Tigh Na Ceol, Kingarth, Isle of Bute - PA20 9NP
Bute is a reasonably compact island, with a decent bus service. However, to maximise your stay and to get the most out of the island we definitely recommend that you have a car. Both ferries to & from Bute are Calmac car & passenger ferries.
Ferry To Bute
Tigh Na Ceol is located on the Isle of Bute, the most accessible island on the west coast of Scotland. Bute is approximately 90 minutes from Glasgow by road or rail, including a 35 minute car ferry crossing from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. Another ferry runs from Colintraive to Rhubodach at the northern end of the Island - taking less than five minutes. Ferry tickets can be purchased at the CalMac terminal at Wemyss Bay or Colintraive. Please note that there are both summer and winter timetables.
Car To Kingarth
Tigh Na Ceol is 8 km south of the island's main town: Rothesay. For sat nav, please use the postcode PA20 9NP. It will take you on either the B881 through the centre of the Island, or, the A844 around the coast of the island. The two roads form a loop and either will get you to the Kingarth Hotel in an easy 10-15 minute drive. When you arrive at the Kingarth Hotel (It's unmissable - the only large white-stone pub in the south) take the turning to Kilchattan Bay. As you drive through the small hamlet of Kingarth toward Kilchattan Bay, Tigh Na Ceol is the last house on the left hand side.
Bus To Kingarth
West Coast Motors operate a regular bus service 490/90 from Rothesay (Guildford Square) to Kilchattan Bay. Tigh Na Ceol is the last house on the left in Kingarth, opposite the old police station. The driver will know where to let you off the bus.
Taxi To Kingarth
There is a Taxi rank on the harbour-front at the ferry terminal in Rothesay which usually has a few cars available, or, visit this link for all the Taxi listings on the island.
